Globo-Con 2022

A week in Anaheim sharing the magic of Gemar!

Gemar USA assisted Globo-Con 2022 had an incredible time with talented artists and vendors from all over the world! In this balloon convention Gemar USA was alongside Gemar Master, Vincenzo Musto; Gemar Ambassadors, Lia Leottau and Luz Paz; and recently announced Gemar Talent, Natasha Diaz. These talented instructors weren’t our only family members, vendors such as Funny Balloons California, Havin’ a Party, Joker Party Supply, City Balloons, and Festi strengthened the Gemar family at Globo-Con 2022. The convention began on September 11, 2022 in the Delta Hotels by Marriott event center where Gemar USA organized classes, contests, decorations, and entertainment until Thursday September 15, 2022.

To prepare the Gemar entrance decorations there was a team of over 15 people helping for 9 hours to bring the “Celebration of Life” theme together. From the beginning of the preparations you could feel the passion from all balloon artists by helping all brands bring every piece together! This is something that was perceived every day of the event! The energy of Globo-Con was electrifying and replete of happy souls celebrating life! With such great energy, Gemar USA was dedicated to Lifting the Moment all week at Globo-Con with over 35,000 balloons for 450 delegates.

The Gemar debut in Globo-Con was made with Luz Paz and her acclaimed “Level Up” large bouquet technique. The classroom was filled entirely with people eager to learn and have fun with Gemar Ambassador Luz Paz! The “Level Up” class consiste of saving money and maximizing your space with a large bouquet made with oversized foils and Gemar Balloons. This class is suitable for Luz because of her mission to educate delegates about the importance of charging for decorations based on how impactful the decoration is plus the amount of labor rather than the amount of money spent on materials.

The second class of the day was Natasha Diaz’s “Welcome to the Party” which consisted of an organic decor to a large scale which a ladder is needed. Natasha is known for her large and hip decorations which most people fear to do because of the heights Natasha has to reach to make the decoration happen. Natasha motivated many decorators to begin working techniques like these because they are great for events of large scale. This class was an interactive class in which delegates inflated their own versions of the technique and later became part of the opening ceremony.

The Globo-Con opening ceremony was a bright and colorful ceremony which began by having the brands make a walkway for all the delegates followed by a dance show from cultures all around the globe. An opening ceremony filled with smiles but also of moments of sorrow honoring and remembering those of who we lost to the COVID-19 pandemic. When the ceremony came to an end it was time to jam with Gemar Balloons! The Gemar balloon Jam had over 60 containers filled with 60 different colors, sizes, and forms. An incredible 2 hours of enjoying and getting to know the product which is when twisters took the spotlight until the lights went out.

The second day of Globo-Con was opened by Gemar Master, Vincenzo Musto. This special class was the introduction to Gemar Creator. Gemar Creator was presented as a software tool for balloon artists to create their designs online and easily share to their clients. The audience showed interest in the new product coming in 2023.  After the presentation, Vincenzo’s first class at Globo-Con was a creative gender reveal decoration with an interactive part of the decoration that reveals the gender of the baby. This class had a hands on section where Vincenzo used distortion to make a baby-like sculpture. Many delegates were happy to learn about distortion and were excited to see their baby sculpture come to life.

To finalize the second day of classes Lia Leottau took over the Gemar classroom to teach how she makes balloons the center of attention of a christmas tree. Something Gemar Ambassador, Lia Leottau has gained attention for has been her christmas tree decorations. Lia decorated the entire stage with winter-style ornaments that surrounded the christmas tree to create a holiday feeling throughout the classroom. Lia shared personal stories throughout the class about how her favorite time of the year is when she has to decorate christmas trees for her customers. Something Lia does with passion has helped her with her success, the message transmitted in this class is to make your decorations with love and joy.

Finalizing day two came the “Celebrando la Vida” celebration. A costume party that invited delegates to dress up as “the day of the dead” This celebration was the main stage for the Balloon Dress Contest where the best balloon dresses were modeled by delegates. Of course Gemar balloons participated in this contest as the material used to create the breathtaking dresses. After the winner was announced it was time to celebrate and dance the night away and prepare for day three of Globo-Con!

Day three begins with Natasha Diaz’s Jumbo class, which is a class much different than anything seen at the convention. Natasha teaches delegates how to use technology such a Cameo or Cricut printers to write messages or add details onto your balloon decorations. Natasha shared how profitable doing a Jumbo has been for her since there aren’t many materials needed for this decoration. Additionally, Natasha shared an inspiring message of how she started being successful with her balloon decorating company when she decided to do things that she was passionate about. Many delegates expressed gratitude to Natasha for sharing her story.

Day three ends with Gemar Master, Vincenzo Musto’s final class at Globo-Con. Vincenzo’s class explores the trending boho theme and new Gemar products! As a Gemar Master, Vincenzo inspires anyone who sits in front of him to learn about his art. Many delegates witnessed Vincenzo decorate the large new Gemar Balloon Heart Arch using various techniques to create a Boho-Love decoration. Vincenzo also added the new Gemar Latte foil to elevate the decoration’s elements. At the end of Vincenzo’s presentation each student was assigned a kit of balloons to make a flower using the distortion techniques used in the class. Vincenzo’s excellence in transmitting confidence to all delegates is the secret behind every student being able to accomplish the distortion flower in the first try.

The final day of Globo-Con began with Luz Paz’s Volume Technique. This technique was created by Luz Paz and it was the first time she taught it at a balloon convention. The main idea is to use a base and use 31” Gemar Balloons to create something big that looks out of the usual. As a Gemar Ambassador, Luz always likes to inspire many students to thrive with their creativity. This class sparked the imagination of many delegates into creating their own versions of the Volume Technique. All decorations were exhibited in the hallway of the final ceremony.

The final class before the final ceremony was Lia Leottau’s Hot Air Balloon Remake. This class was the closing class for Gemar Balloons in Globo-Con. Lia used her creativity and inspired others to challenge themselves to make things that seem like they don’t have another way to do them and turn them into something completely different. Lia used many colors, G-Links, modelling balloons, and standard balloons to create a crazy and interactive hot air balloon. This  class had an interactive part where Lia asked students to help her make the G-Link balloon structure.

To Finalize Globo-Con 2022 Gemar instructors built the entrance and hallway decoration for a elegant gala. The Globo-Con gala had many awards. Gemar Ambassador, Luz Paz was awarded for the lifetime achievement award. Additionally, all Gemar instructors were awarded for their great leadership at Globo-Con 2022. Globo-Con came to an end and at the end the Gemar team reflected on an excellent participation in the first Globo-Con sponsorship. Gemar Balloons soared high over Globo-Con for the week long event, leaving many artists inspired to assist more trainings and create more decorations for their balloon business.
