Lifting the Moment in Athens
What happens when you have not one, but two Gemar Masters at the same event? You get a truly awe inspiring display of beautiful balloon art, as visitors to the Brideline fair in MEC Peanias, Athens, discovered at the end of January.
Roberta and Vincenzo joined forces to decorate the Gemar stand with no fewer than six amazing balloon sculptures. Roberta’s stunning forest themed selfie frame provided the perfect photo opportunity, with a beautiful tree alongside the frame itself. Vincenzo was not to be outdone however and his gender reveal arch reached high overhead, capturing the attention of visitors from far across the hall. Weddings, baptisms and parties were all represented, showcasing how versatile balloons are. They can be elegant, understated, flamboyant or full of fun – whatever suits the occasion.
On Sunday the Balloon Masters ran a two hour class, a taster of what can be experienced in a full GemarDay training. Although it was short, the session was packed with content and participants left full of ideas and ready to make the most of the new techniques they had learnt. Balloon art is a wonderful way to have fun while exploring your creative talents, few people can look at a balloon without smiling, so a beautiful balloon sculpture will always be a sight to treasure. Our new friends in Athens were certainly smiling as they left the seminar and we hope they will spread the joy of balloons far and wide, across the city and further afield.
Of course such a wonderful few days doesn’t happen by accident. We would like to thank Vincenzo and Roberta as well as everyone else involved. Many hours of hard work go into the planning and preparation for these occasions, and when it’s all over there are hundreds of balloons to be popped and safely binned. When the team is finished there isn’t a single shred remaining to show where we have been, only the memories we’ve created. It’s quite an impressive feat. Thank you all for your hard work, we’re already looking forward to the next GemarDay!
